The Medical Digital Marketing Brief:
Our latest collab was with Zoetis, a leader in global animal health, to create and implement a medical digital marketing strategy that focused on arthritis in pets in South Africa. The goal? To educate pet owners and guide them towards the right care for their furry friends. Once the strategy was in place, we developed a website for them.
The Challenge:
The tricky part was how to effectively promote health products without directly mentioning them due to South Africa’s strict medical advertising regulations. We had to think a little differently and it required an innovative approach to communicate important information while complying with medical regulations. Have you ever thought of promoting your brand or service without being allowed to mention the name if it? Adds a unique layer of complexity.
In case you didn’t know, any medical products that are Schedule 2 or higher are strictly regulated, and advertising these to the public is not allowed. This rule applies to animal health products as well. If you really wanted to, you can find out more about the regulations here
The Solution
The idea was to have people interact with the information on the site and then drive them to seek more information if their pet was in need of some help. These were our solutions to create engagement and be useful to the audience:
Symptom Checker:
We added a tool that helps pet owners figure out if their pets might need to see a vet. It uses the symptoms they enter to suggest whether a visit is necessary, making it easier to decide when to seek professional help.

Vet Locator:
We also included a feature that helps people find their nearest vet quickly and easily. This is especially handy when someone needs to get help fast for their pet.

Ask Dr. Kenneth:
On the website, there’s a section where Dr. Kenneth (an actual Vet), answers questions from pet owners. This provides valuable insights and advice on how to handle different pet health issues, straight from an independent expert.

These features were designed to make the website a helpful resource for pet owners, giving them the tools to better manage their pets’ health and drive the pet owner to seek help when it is needed.
